Kilim is the Turkish word for a flatweave or pileless rug decorated with tribal patterns and colors. The word kilim means a flatwoven rug without a knotted pile. The designs of kilims tend to be geometric incorporating various symbols. A main characteristic of kilim rugs is the slits along the warp of the rug wherever there is a change in color.
